Mom hasn’t been doing well for the past few days, so I ended up taking her to the doctor this morning. I think she has another UTI, but we can’t get a urine catch, so it’s all guesswork. Anyway, Dr. Young and Handsome gave her an antibiotic. He checked her white blood count and said it wasn’t really high, so at least we know she doesn’t have a terrible infection like before. I also got her a flu shot and a pneumonia shot while we were there. And she didn’t have to stand in a line!
Mom sits and shuts her eyes a lot and she is grouchy much of the time. She still smiles and I can tell she wants to be loving, but then she always reverts back to the swinging and fussing. I hope this RX works a little magic and she starts to be more like her happy self soon. I am very grateful to have the flu shot out of the way, as I have really been fretting over it.
We sat and looked at a magazine together while we waited at the doctor’s office. I haven’t been able to get her to look at any kind of a book for quite a while. I am diligently looking for signs of cognitive improvement due to the Memantine. Maybe after we get her feeling better, we’ll be able to see if there is any notable progress.

I don’t have three days off this weekend, after all. Overtime was offered and I signed up. I feel like I am slowly going down the drain ever since my pay was cut. If they offered overtime more, I would probably work it. I’m not up for getting another job, though, like so many others. I honestly don’t think I could work 60+ hours every week.
Speaking of working lots of hours, Josh is finished with his management training and has started in his new store. I believe he will be working 50+ hours a week all the time. He is young and enthusiastic, though. I am so pleased to see him doing so well and applying himself. He is a perfectionist, like his father, and I’m sure will be an asset to any company.
Chris is doing superbly, as well, at The Secret Place. I’m sure he’ll be moving up soon if he decides to try something new. Right now he is content to be working with friends. One thing about promotions is they certainly change the entire atmosphere at work. *smile*

I have been looking for one of those yellow ribbon car magnets that symbolize our support of the troops in the Middle East. I finally found some today at Walmart. I was thrilled and went to stick it on the back of my car while still in the parking lot. How surprising it was for me when I found out that there is no metal on the back of my car. Who knew? All these years of washing and waxing and I never realized! I knew the bumper was plastic, but I thought my trunk lid was metal. I had no clue I was driving around in a plastic car all this time. All I could think of was, “Rubber baby buggy bumpers.” I ended up sticking the magnet on the right rear fender. I guess the people who pull up beside me can witness my loyalty to the troops.
I just finished baking some cookies to send to Leah, but I’m thinking they didn’t turn out well at all. I don’t know if I will even send them. I should probably just make tollhouse cookies since they are always great. I burned out the mixer and will have to exchange that ASAP.

The Red Sox are beating the Cardinals in the first game of the World Series right now, but the game’s not over yet.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
