My screened in back porch has three full length mirrors along the back wall. Since Mom is always trying to escape when she’s here, often she goes out on the back porch and is drawn to the mirrors. She doesn’t get much of a chance to see herself at Facility. Many people with Alzheimer’s don’t recognize themselves in a mirror, because they think they are much younger than the person staring back at them.

Anyway, I was quite surprised when I heard Mom say from the back porch, “I don’t like my hair.”

Chris had commented that if Mom could see her hair, she would be mad. He thinks she looks like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber.

Since it stays dirty so much, I thought it might be helpful to be shorter, but I must admit I don’t like it, either.

Below is a picture of the people who live in Mom’s ‘house’ (her section of Facility). Mom is wearing the purple top.

I finally got a couple of shots of the Tatouage from my kitchen. I wish they had come out clearer.

Isaiah 3:24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
