I was awakened yesterday by the sound of a strong, gusty wind blowing. Then when I let Tana out the back door, I was greeted by a broken storm door and glass all over the back steps from the window in the door falling. I dutifully cleaned up all the glass. After examining the door, I decided the best move would be to buy a new one rather than trying to repair this one.
I didn’t go out the front door until I was leaving for work. That’s when I saw the big garbage can and the recycling can were smashed up against the side of my pony! GRR. Her door is scuffed up a bit, but I didn’t see any dents. Not any new ones anyway. I still have the little one that someone from Shenandoah Baptist left over my rear wheel from slamming open a door into it. That was when my car was brand new. They didn’t even leave a note of apology. Nice, huh?
Anyway, back to the wind. It blew the numbers off my house! We have gone from being 3114 to our new address of 34. I found one one and Chris found one one, so I’ll be able to get us back into the right block soon.
I’ll have to fit measuring the door and running by Lowe’s into my busy schedule tomorrow.
I signed up to get a flu shot at work Monday. We only had to pay $5. Not a bad deal, although I’ve never had a flu shot before. Mom will be getting one at Facility, which relieves me from carrying her to the doctor for it. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could both skip the flu this year?
I also signed up for Community Service which I’ll be doing next Thursday. I’m planning to help prepare/serve/clean up the Thanksgiving Feast at the Adult Care Center. I’m very excited. Last year, I actually attended this meal with my Mom. I am happy to be able to help out. The Secret Place pays their employees for one day of service a year to aid in good public relations.
Speaking of the Adult Care Center... that is where my Alzheimer’s Caregiver support group meets. When my schedule changed in August, and I had to work on Tuesdays, I had to give up my meetings. I have mentioned before how much I love the sweet ladies in my support group. Well, Carole called me and told me that some of the ladies were asking about me at the last meeting and they have now planned the group’s Christmas luncheon on a Friday instead of a Tuesday, just so I can go. That just makes me cry! How sweet is that?
Mom is doing well. Her hair was dirty (again) today, so I got an aide to help me wash it. I’ll be picking her up tomorrow.
First I have to meet the receptionist from Facility and take her to The Secret Place’s employee store which is allowing guests this weekend. She has been begging me to go and she is all excited. I sure hope she finds a few things she likes. It’s usually feast or famine in there, but I’ve been pretty lucky most of the time.
I need to get another load of laundry going so I can get to bed. Morning comes early.
Ecclesiastes 1:6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
