My brother and his family rolled into the driveway in a nice new car. It’s gray with a ‘fake’ black
convertible roof. It’s a Chrysler LHS and it looks like a sports car, yet has 4 doors with lots of room in the
back. Everyone loved it. As much as I enjoy my Mustang, I have to admit it’s hard to get an adult in and out
of the back seat.
A feast that would feed a small army got splayed out across the table and we all had the best time talking,
laughing, eating, and taking pictures. We also exchanged gifts and had fun ooing and aahing over all the
goodies. Mom didn’t join in very much, but she also didn’t get agitated, so I was pleased. When all the
company got to be too much for her, she retreated to another room. Things went wonderfully well and we
all will have good memories of the day. There’s no denying the underlying sadness, though. My brother’s
health being so poor, with him facing something as serious as a lung transplant was not far from my
thoughts. Also, I couldn’t help wondering if Mom would be around next year at this time. But these terrible
situations only serve to make the joy more abundant for the time we have together now. My heart is filled
with love and longing and the desire to always have these family members here with me.
Josh and Leah arrived later on and the excitement continued. They drove for twelve hours and were worn
out, but managed to indulge us with their charming personalities for a while before turning in for the night.
I do so cherish having them around. Leah is such a sweetie and they seem so happy. It gives me great comfort
to know they get along so well. I would love to see them find a church they could truly be a part of, but I
don’t have that for myself, either. I’m sending some Mark tapes taught by Pastor Parker home with them to
study together.
Josh and Leah are out right now with Chris and a bunch of friends. They went to the movies, which I
suppose is the only thing open tonight. They went to Mill Mountain earlier and looked out over the city and
watched the star light up. Tomorrow we may hit the after Christmas sales. Yehaw. Fun. Fun. I sure do love
my kids. God is so good to me.
