Before I went to bed last night (this morning), there was a little snow on our cars. I thought maybe we might have some accumulation, but it was all gone when I awakened.

Chris and I spent the morning alone. He opened his gifts and I opened mine. He didn’t get a lot, but seemed pleased with his new clothes, sneakers, cologne, and 49er’s coffee mugs.

I got a Hoover rug steamer from Chris.

Oh yeah, baby

And a Bulova watch from Josh

What time is it?

My friend, Cathy, sent me this beautiful framed print quoting Charles Spurgeon that was a wonderful encouragement, as well.

Walk with God and you cannot mistake the road. You have infallible wisdon to direct you, permament love to comfort you, and eternal power to defend you.

Josh opened his presents alone (how sad is that??) and then he called and talked to us for a while. I bought him a Robosapien robot man toy. It came with a remote control and does all kinds of stuff. He said it was really funny and would be fun to get out and play with when his friends were over.

He was still waiting for Leah to call when we spoke. Apparently she had to work today. She should be home in less than a month now. I feel so bad that she was away for Christmas. Every year they had been coming to my house and this was going to be the first year going to her parent’s house (which they are only three hours from now). Oh well, I bet they give her some time off when she gets back and she’ll be able to rest up and see everyone lots.

In the afternoon I went and picked up Mom. Chris got the kitchen ready and sliced the ham for me while I was gone. The three of us sat down and enjoyed our Christmas dinner. Mom paced quite a bit, but seemed mostly happy and not agitated.

After a couple of hours I took her back to Facility. There were lots of visitors today and yesterday. The staff was short because everyone wants to be off on Christmas. I have seen several new faces (aides) at Facility, so I know they are at least trying to deal with their problems.

Oh yeah, Mom was here when Josh called and I held the phone to her ear for him to talk to her. He was saying, “Hi, it’s Josh.” She replied, “Gosh, it’s Josh.” It was so funny. We all got a good laugh out of that one.

I bought Mom a beautiful new baby doll and gave it to her a few days ago. I never saw it again after the first day. *sigh* I guess I’ll have to do a room by room search myself for it, since I have mentioned it about three times fruitlessly. Of course, they have far too much to do there to worry about missing items. In an Alzheimer’s facility that’s just par for the course.

I brushed her poor teeth today, too. That is definitely not getting done. I need to remember to put her on the list for a haircut, too. I wish I could get her and take her to Lois, her old hairdresser. She makes Mom’s hair look beautiful.

Chris is going out of town on Monday with Mindy’s family. He’ll be back Thursday, in time to bring in the new year.

Tana did end up having surgery on her ear. She is on the mend, but still has to wear the e(vil)-collar. She hates it, but as soon as it’s removed, she immediately rubs her wounded ear into the carpet. She had laser surgery and her ear has open wounds. They are scabbing up now that the bandage is off. I have no idea how long she will have to continue wearing it. She is taking antibiotics and seems to be feeling fine. I just hope this is the end of the ear hematoma.
