What a great day!

As I have mentioned recently, my handyman is MIA and I have been in desperate need.

Now with spring arriving, it was time to mow. Only we couldn’t get the mower started. I know nothing about things like this. Just one more thing that Tony would have handled. Anyway, this morning someone knocked on the door and asked if they could mow. They wanted to use my mower and said they would get it running for me, no problem. WooHoo. So now the mower is fixed and the yard is mowed!

These guys even dug up 5 dead shrubs that have been adorning the front yard since we moved here!!

PLUS (there’s more!)! The guy is coming back tomorrow to take care of a couple of other things for me, because he is a Jack of all Trades. I am so happy.

I also went to Bedford to meet my friend from Phoenix and her husband for lunch. We dined at the scenic Peaks Restaurant at the Peaks of Otter. We actually met at the D-Day Memorial and then drove over to the Parkway.

Seeing Chris was so wonderful. It has been 15 years since we have seen each other, yet once we started talking, it seemed like there was no time between us at all. We talked about our kids and old times and just enjoyed each other so much. Her husband was very kind and I hope we didn’t bore him too much with our reminiscing. The sad part was having such a short time to catch up. In no time at all we were hugging and saying our tearful good-byes.

They left and headed north on the Parkway to continue on their journey. I headed south toward Roanoke. The day was glorious, with rays of sunlight shining away the remnants of a very rainy week.

I cried a little on the way home.... thinking about old times and Phoenix and knowing I wouldn’t get to see Chris again for a long time.

Isn’t it great that the day they were coming close by just happened to be on my day off? Seeing them made my whole week! [Well, the handyman stuff did, too. :-)]

This beautiful weather is supposed to last all weekend. Tomorrow I’ll wash my car before I pick up Mom. Or maybe I’ll wait til I get her and let her sit in the yard with me while I wash it. I guess I’ll wait and see if it’s warm enough. She loves being outside. She always planted pretty flowers and made sure her yard looked nice.
