We had a very stormy weekend here. Yesterday I went downtown with my friend, Todd, and roamed around. Then we went to Shakers by the mall and had a salad for lunch. When I got home I passed out for about three hours. I sure lose a lot of weekend time sleeping, but getting out of the house on a Saturday is a good start for me.
Then tonight I went to Todd's for dinner and a movie. He cooked baked chicken, carrots, red potatoes, and biscuits. It was delicious!! Then he made a berry crisp for dessert. Yum! I did make the mistake of staying over there too long and I got caught in a terrible storm on the way home. I ended up pulling over for a few minutes because I couldn't really see to drive. There were fire trucks and ambulances going every which way. I should have left when I first intended. Oh well, Hind sight and all. I made it home in one piece, so it's all good.
Mom is doing about the same. We didn't go get her today because there was a horrible storm brewing. By the time it passed, it was time for me to go to Todd's. I'll get up early in the morning and go see her before work. Maybe I can get my blood drawn for my cardiologist appointment later in the week while I'm there.
I hate missing my scheduled visits, even though I know Mom doesn't know when I'm coming or even know I was there afterwards. I need to see her for ME.
Mom's friend, Hazel, is talking to me on speaker phone right now as I type. She loves to call me and talk. Sometimes she makes me feel nervous because she has OCD and her nervousness is contagious, I think. She is sweet, though, and I do feel bad for her and pray for her when I think of her. She is telling me about one of our neighbors who is in the hospital. It's a man from the church I attended as a child. He is also Mom's next door neighbor (beside of her empty house). He is a very nice man, who had a daughter my age. He also used to let Chris use his riding mower to mow Mom's lawn. I should go see him in the hospital, but knowing my schedule, that will never happen.
Work is still as busy as ever, but I think once I make it through this week, it will slow down a little bit for a couple of weeks. Right now I am seriously overwhelmed and I know all the stress is not good for me.
Karen called and told me she was coming to visit next weekend. That will be nice. She'll be right on time to go out to lunch with my breast friends on Saturday. She hasn't met them yet, so it's about time. I just have to find out where Flat Rock is….
Karen also told me that she burned up the motor in their boat and they had ordered a new pontoon boat. She was very excited and it sounds like a nice boat…. More user friendly for crips like me. I could dig floating around on a lake, soaking up the tranquility. We'll see if I ever have the energy to drive to the lake house. I haven't even been there since they bought it! I am sooo lazy!
I'm going to go to bed soon so I can wake up and start my new week. God is so good to me and the blessings continue abundantly.
