Okay, I finally got to see Mom. She is fine and well, although just as skinny as ever. I visited her one day last week before work and filled her with fluids. Chris and I went today and took her a Dr. Pepper and an oatmeal cookie. I also scored a Styrofoam cup filled with fruit salad for her. We decided not to take her out because it was so hot and her car has no ac presently. {There were lots of other reasons, because we decided to try to do everything the hard way instead of the easy way, but there ya go.}

This morning Josh, Chris and I started a new Bible Study on James. Josh appeared in the living room with his Bible, so it seemed like a great idea. I bought both boys new bibles for their birthdays this year and we all now have the same Bible – the KJV Nelson study bible. I just happen to have a study that my good friend, Charlie Parker wrote on James (to be used in Sunday School in the Ukraine). So we got started and will be reading in James throughout the week to meet next Sunday and continue. Dr. Parker is by far the best Bible teacher I’ve ever had the privilege of sitting under. Getting into the Word will be beneficial to all of us, I’m sure.

Now that Josh has had a week to settle in, he is anxious to get a job. He’ll probably need a bicycle, since he doesn’t have a car and I’m not available to haul him around. Right now, he just wants any sort of job to keep him busy. He’ll wait til later to worry about getting a ‘good’ job. Fortunately, I live pretty close to a couple of malls and a couple of strip malls. I just have to find a bike… I know I must have a friend with one who doesn’t use it. If my friends are like me, there is no danger of them riding a bike. *smile*

Work was a bit calmer last week, but now I’m going to be working with seven students who have to do an extra week, as well as start a new St. Pete class. So, busy week ahead! I was looking forward to having a part time class with St Pete, as we’re not hiring part time here. Have a part time class will enable me to actually get some things done that I haven’t been able to even glance at for the last few weeks. However, looks like that won’t start til next week. I’m good with that, though, because I like to see my classes through to the end. I’ll also have Chris and Dwayne to help me this week.

Yesterday I went to a baby shower for my friend, Patsy’s daughter, Colby. I loved seeing everyone, as Patsy is like a sister to me and her family is my family. Colby is having a girl and everyone is so excited, since all four grandkids thus far are boys. The father’s family is Italian and I must say I ate some ziti that was out of this world. We played games and I won one! Yeah, the old lady still has it.

There was a lady there with her daughter that were relatives of the father. Her gift was in this extra large gift bag. Now, this baby is due at the beginning of September. When buying clothes, one has to remember that for the first three weeks or so, the baby will probably wear a sleeper or something equally soft and comfy. You must determine what season it will be when the baby will wear the size clothing you’re purchasing. Right? Colby pulled out the first gift; a little one piece suit with short sleeves and no legs. It should fit the baby right around November or December. It was adorably cute, though. Anyway, apparently there was a sale on these little suits, because there were about 15 of them. One in every color and design was included. People that go way overboard like that annoy me, but I found it twice as annoying that Colby won’t be able to use any of it. I did hear her ask where it was purchased, so I’m sure she is planning to take it and exchange it for something sufficient for winter.

Interestingly, at Colby's sister’s baby shower a few years ago, there was a relative of the dad who bought $250 worth of stuff from Dollar General and brought it to the shower. Bag after bag after bag containing much more baby stuff than could ever be used for one baby was proudly offered. It was just too much! Why do people do that? There I was with my little gift of two sleepers, or was it one? I’m not sure, but I know it wasn’t twenty. I’d remember that for sure.

Anyway, back to the shower on Saturday-I just want to add that the grandma who did most of the work, really outdid herself. She even painted little handmade picture frames for each person who attended. Special care was taken with each little detail. I think she is going to be a terrific grandma!

Also, my apologies for sounding grumpy about the crazy gift givers. Sometimes when I go out to eat with relatives, I'll grab the tab and I can tell it annoys my relatives. So maybe I have some things to learn along those lines myself. {I must admit they amuse me tremendously at times. My aunt will tell my uncle (her brother) after we go pick up take out, ”You owe me 12 cents.” They are in their 60’s…. c’mon now!

Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
