"The health department has asked that no visitors enter the building due to a stomach virus that is going around."
I stood there holding the oatmeal cookie and the Boost, staring at the sign. I went ahead and entered, since the first room is just the lobby, and checked on Mom. So far she wasn't sick, but everyone else in her section was ill. The director made a half-hearted offer to bring Mom into the lobby for me, but I knew she was right about not exposing me to the virus. After being sick for over a week with the cold that went around work, I realize I can't go around ignoring warning signs anymore.
I called Facility again two days later and found out Mom had been sick, but was already better. However, Chris and I were still not allowed to get Mom on Sunday. I got him to help me do a couple of things around the house and we talked a lot about baseball and Yankees. *smile* I don't like going so long without seeing Mom and I'm not sure when I'll see her again.

I had a quiet fourth of July…. I worked a half day and then just relaxed at home. I got lots of sleep this weekend, yet I'm still sleepy. It's amazing.
I did do one exciting thing tonight. I bought a new computer online. Mine has been pretty bad off for about a year and I accidentally bumped into a new one at a very good price and bought it. I also bought the one I have now with no plans of buying one ahead of time. This computer was $1200 and I paid it off in about 13 months. My new one was $730 and I'll have it paid off in five months. My new one comes with a 22 inch wide screen monitor/tv tuner, so I'll be able to give Chris the flat panel monitor I've been using. It should work out very nicely. I'm looking forward to getting a new toy and to having a computer that isn't always chugging along laughing at me.

I had a nice week at work. One of my students gifted me with a huge bag of squash. I've fixed it twice and enjoyed every bite! I have to take some to Veronica tomorrow, because she loves it, too. There were also a couple of cukes in the bag, which I chowed immediately. Mmmm, fresh veggies straight from the garden, complete with dirt. Now that's living!
I'm looking forward to a busy week at work, but it should be a good week. I'm not anticipating anything bad. I do have an appointment with my oncologist on Thursday and will be doing community serive with my department from work on Friday, so my sleep will be getting all messed up in the latter part of the week. I'll live, though. It's always nice to have Friday night off.
1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
