Maryanne, Mrs. Lancaster’s daughter, has been in town for a few days. She popped in for a surprise visit the
other day. We sat in the living room chatting and Mom came in and presented her with a bag of trash. Maryanne
went to peek into the bag and I warned her of it’s contents. She just smiled. She’s very patient and loving with
Mom. Oh yeah, Maryanne called and got my new answering machine message, so I had to spend ten minutes
explaining it all to her. Just my luck a real human had to call as soon as I switched it. Anyway, Tana took to the
new guest immediately and jumped up on her leg and proceeded to sneeze twice into her lap. At this point I can’t
help imagining her thoughts. First she calls and gets my ‘HEY’ message, then my Mom gifts her with trash and
my dog blows puppy snot all over her. She probably felt like she was visiting some redneck version of the Addam’s
family. She was brave enough to invite us to dinner and we went out and had a very delicious evening at a nearby
restaurant. Mrs. Lancaster’s grandson bought her house and will be moving in soon. I think he misses his
grandmother quite a bit. I love to see close knit families, especially men who love their moms/grandmas. Probably
because I always want my sons to stay close to me. :-)
