I just hung up the phone from registering to attend a Small Business Workshop next week. This will be an interesting change of pace for me. In the past several years every class or seminar I have attended fit under one of these categories:

1. Christian/Bible
2. Homeschooling
3. Alzheimer’s Disease/caregiving

Now I’m going to venture out all by myself into this new territory. It’s across town in an area I’m unfamiliar with, so hopefully I’ll be able to find it. I suppose I could look for it ahead of time. Anyway, this information should prove valuable when I take over the business. I’m guessing it will be profitable even if I continue on as a private contractor. I’m excited. There is life after homeschooling. *smile*

Tana has been sick. I took her for a haircut last week at the Valley Animal Hospital. It’s a wonderful place where you can see the vet, get groomed, or be boarded. I love being able to use the same place for all of her needs. However, I have to leave her there all day to be groomed, thus exposing her to all the germs floating around from the sick doggies seeking help there. The groomer there isn’t the best, but usually does a passable job. This time she completely ruined Tana’s beautiful coat. It will take a good six months to grow it back to a presentable condition. So, Tana is embarrassed, of course. She has finally quit hiding under the bed. Anyway, three days after her grooming she started having loose stools all over the house. ARG! At first I thought it was something she ate, but everyone pleaded innocence there. After 24 hours she was still messing up the rugs and I became very concerned. I made a vet appointment which I ended up canceling because I had no one to sit with Mom. It was all good, though, because Tana has recovered and is back to her normal self (although still with the bad hair thing).

Mom’s new thing is sitting on the couch sleeping all night. For several nights in a row, I was unable to persuade her to lie down. She wouldn’t even lie down for Chris. When I got up in the mornings, she would be sitting right there in the same spot. She did finally lie down and sleep last night, so maybe that was just a passing fancy. Time will tell.

The Johnson boys (Charles, Jon, and Hollis) are visiting us this weekend and I plan to pull out the hidabed in one of the couches downstairs for two of them. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes with Mom. She does wander a bit in the night and might poke them or something. I’m sure it will be confusing for her to have the bed pulled out. Hopefully it will all work out.

I went to the dentist yesterday and he prepared a tooth to be crowned. I am finally going to get the three crowns I have been needing for years. I was way too poor in the past to afford it. I decided to go ahead with the work before I become destitute once again. That way at least I’ll be a bag lady with good teeth when the time comes.
