Chris and I are back from the beach. We had a good time, but both of us are pretty worn
out now. It’s back to the grind now. Blech.
I spoke to Kendra from the VA as soon as I walked through the door. Apparently Mom
had a red eye she was concerned about. She told me Mom had been ‘her usual feisty,
disagreeable self’ all weekend. She sounded a bit frazzled, poor dear. I guess Mom got
most of her meanness out over the weekend, because she was very happy when I picked
her up. She even stood up and kissed me! We stopped by the store on the way home and
she was pleasant the entire time. Everything was great until she started throwing up into
her plate at dinner. Now I realize I’m not the best cook in the world, but... come on!
Seriously, I don’t recall Mom ever vomiting before, although surely she has. I’m assuming
she is getting sick. She absolutely refused her nighttime meds, so I have to wait for Chris
to come home and work his magic. When I told her it was time to take her medicine she
responded by clenching her mouth closed as tightly as possible and keeping her eyes
closed. It is a bit unnerving to think of caring for her minus her anti-psychotic meds. I’ll
call her doctor in the morning if she still seems sick.
Josh is back home from Phoenix. Leah’s pleased, because she missed him so much. He
was busy visiting his father and working. He was chosen to take a ride in an F15 (the
aircraft he works on), and he had an absolute blast. They flew over the Grand Canyon and
also did a bunch of rollovers and cool stuff like that. It was an honor to be picked and it’s
not something that he’ll ever forget.
Pastor Parker gave a much needed message on Sunday night. It was all about resting in
the Lord. We try and try to live a godly life under our own power and sooner or later we
always fail. We have to learn to enter into the Lord. He already has victory. It’s not what
we are or what we do, it’s Who He is and What He has ALREADY done. I was
encouraged, as I always am when being fed the meat of the Word.
Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that
sheweth mercy.
