Most everything is back up and running now. Americans are trying to get back to some sort of normal daily living. This will be a long time coming for thousands of folks who have lost loved ones. May we all remember to pray for them often.

US flags are being displayed prominently wherever you go. People have them on their cars and houses. So many have been sold, I don’t believe there is a store in Roanoke that is not sold out. Consequently, I can’t stop an old John Prine song from running though my head. Part of the lyrics....

But your flag decal won’t get you into heaven anymore.
They’re already overcrowded by your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don’t like killing, no matter what the reason’s for.
And your flag decal won’t get you into heaven anymore.

I’m not a pacifist, just an old fan of John Prine who has spent many hours weeping to his sad songs.

Speaking of Roanoke (I did mention Roanoke... see.... look up a few lines... yes, right there!) There was an abandoned car found here on Thursday. Well, read this excerpt from the Roanoke Times(or go here for complete article).

Roanoke police found a car abandoned at Peters Creek and Thirlane roads on Thursday with no license plates and reported it to the FBI.

The car bears a yellow sticker on the back windshield from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., from which at least one of the hijackers reportedly graduated.

A Roanoke County officer first spotted the silver Nissan Sentra near the rear of the Roanoke airport last Friday, said Roanoke police spokeswoman Shelly Alley. About 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a Roanoke officer thought it suspicious and had it towed to Fire Station No. 10 on Airport Road. The FBI examined it that day.

That’s kinda creepy, huh?

I have been reading this now defunct AD journal online recently. It’s written by a woman who was caring for her stricken husband. I can really relate to the circumstances she describes and as I sobbed my way through it, I realized that this lady must be in her 80’s. Toward the end of the journal, she had placed her husband in a care facility and was suffering from tremendous guilt. I have no idea what her present situation is, but my heart goes out to her and all the myriad of elderly folks caring for a spouse with AD. I can’t even begin to comprehend how terrible and hard this is for them. Sheesh, I feel sorry for ME and I’m a young, strong, healthy lass. *smile* No, not Lassie! More like Rin Tin Tin. *woof*

Mom continues to feel poorly. She refused her eye drops yesterday at the adult care center and they said she was grumpy all day again. Even though she was happy after we got home, I have to concede that she is not cheerful much of the time at home, either. I still think she might be sick and put a call in to her doctor asking him to call in an antibiotic. She has been sleeping most of the day. I’m waiting for a call back from Dr. Watts to see what he says. I realize that her illness is more than likely progressing, but I can’t stand to see her so miserable and can’t help feeling we can do something to help. She looks terrible... she looks like she doesn’t feel well. I long to hear her laughter and see her acting silly a while.
