So, my birthday.

I mentioned before that Josh and Chris went in together for my gift and replaced the broken CD player in my car. That was a great present. Now I just need to get my oil changed and a state inspection and my car will be set. Oops. I need to get it waxed before winter, too.

Anyway, after Chris took me out to lunch and I was on my way to work, I figured my birthday celebrations were over. I was so wrong. When I got to work, two different people had cards for me. Later on, two other people came in and had birthday balloons for me. Unbelievably, another friend actually baked me a cake! Someone else had passed around a card that a whole bunch of people signed. I was shocked and more than a little touched. I’ve been feeling kinda friendless lately and it made me feel very loved.

The cake was devoured in short order and lots of people came over to wish me a happy birthday because of my balloons heralding the occasion. I even got to leave work early!

I got three cards in the mail from Karen and my friend, Bonnie, sent a cyber card. She never uses the computer, so I think her daughter must have helped her. I also received virtual greetings from a couple of online friends, as well.

Josh called and asked how my birthday was going and I got to tell him all about my happy day.

It was a great day. Makes me mindful of how much a small token of encouragement can mean to another and how we need to take the time to do those little things more often.

Psalm 3:4 ¶ I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
