Last Saturday night I took Mom and Carole to see Greater Vision at my church (Fellowship Baptist). They were so good and we all really enjoyed the concert. Mom was tapping her toes so fast, I thought her leg might fall off. It reminded me of the way those old country people dance. Oh wait! Mom is an old country person! *smile* I’m very glad we got the chance to go and that Mom is still able to enjoy herself.

My sister got me the book Able to the Uttermost “Forgotten” Sermons by Charles Spurgeon for my birthday. The book came with a ton of extra pamphlets. These included even more sermons by Spurgeon as well as articles written by other Puritan and Reformation preachers. I have been very encouraged and enlightened as I read through this literature. For some reason I awoke at 5:00 A.M. this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. I ended up reading this little booklet by Charles Ryle called Formality. What a great message! One may read it online here. I highly recommend it. This was such a wonderful gift. I’m happy that I was able to think of an answer when asked what I would like. Normally I draw a complete blank.

Mom had a good weekend and I am hoping for her pleasantness to continue for a few more days. She seems to cycle in and out of her moods with no rhyme or reason. Or could she sense when I am about to go over the edge and decide to give me a break? Nah.

Her new thing is getting into the dog food and putting it all over. I opened the sugar bowl and found some there. Alpo sweetener anyone? Later she poured coffee into the sugar bowl, so it got a nice soapy bath. I can’t pretend it wasn’t sorely needed.

Did I mention that Chris got a new job working for Collegiate Movers? He works hard all day, but is happy to be working day shift for a change. He also doesn’t have to work Sundays, which I have asked him to please avoid. While I wish he had godly standards himself, I appreciate his desire to please me. He is a sweet boy and I feel the Lord will save him in His time.

Josh called me last night and he was all excited because Leah got accepted to cross-train to be an EMT. That was her first choice. She is scheduled to begin next October, which means her tech school and whatever else she needs must be completed by then. Josh plans to either get out of the service or to possibly join the Guard so his education will be covered. I think it all depends on where they get stationed.

God continues to be merciful..

Psalm 59:16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
