Angela, your site is such an inspiration to those that are going through the exact same thing. You have given them an outlet to help vent their frustrations and feelings. Angela, you are truly a wonderful person to take care of your mother and being there for her. You will be richly rewarded. I love you! :)

Even though I know about most of the things that go on in your life, I still really enjoy reading your journal. Mom, you are living a life that few people in this world could handle, and from what I've seen you have a great attitude about it. Only through the power of God could such a miracle occur. You will be rewarded some day. Thanks for being such a great mom. I love you. Your son, Josh

Thank you so much for taking the time to chronicle your life with your mother's altzheimer's. My Mother's memory is really bad, and it made me feel so much better to realize she isn't the only one who doesn't want to take baths and there were so many other things that I could relate to. My daughter, Debbie, told me about your site. Your writings were such a blessing to me and I was disappointed when I realized I was at the end. I tried to make it have some more pages. HA

Sweetie, You are so good with your Mom and such a blessing as a best friend and sister in the Lord. You will cherish these writings. Some day I will get a copy of My Descent into Alzheimers and you can take me out to Freemason or Red Lobster with your royalties. We miss you!!

Comments: Hiddy-ho! Just thought I'd stop by to see how things are going with your mom. Hope you are all well. We are doing pretty good, though I'm exhausted by the end of most days. I try to keep things lo-key, but it just doesn't seem to work out that way. Thank the Lord for mercy and grace! And thank the Lord we can come boldly to the thrown of grace in the time of need. He is faithful! What a joy and a hope that is!

Comments: I just finished reading the beginnings and am amazed at the simularities that exist between your mom and mine at the same stage. I don't have the fight for baths and clothes changes you do but have the same battle to get her to leave her chair. Thanks for sharing. I got your link from the AD line. Dee

Comments: Thank you for your incredible effort to journal your experience for others to read. I am a caregiver program coordinator at a non-profit agency (Senior Resources of Guilford) in North Carolina. I also cared for my grandfather who has AD when I was in graduate school. Reading your pages reminds me that I learned so much from him - patience, sacrifice, and compassion. Now, that I am no longer caring for him like I did back then, I recognize all that I've become because of that period in my life. I hope that one day you will feel that as well. Blessings to you and your family.

Comments: I'm a new lurker on the Alzheimer's support page and trying to soak up all that I can to help me on the "voyage" with my 85 year old mother. I am learning a lot from the postings and maybe one of these days I will open up and post a whole message about myself and our situation, but am not quite ready yet. Thanks for allowing me to come into your site.

Comments: I hope that you do not mind me writing you. I have tried to keep up with your site and I do enjoy reading it. First please tell your son how proud I am, as an American of all our soldiers over seas. When the soldier is a female, it makes me 3 times more proud.

I am so sorry for all that Alzheimer's is taking from your mother. I worked on an Alzheimer unit at the rest home. Each day brought new challenges and new things that would shock you. But the thing that I enjoyed the most is the love that most of the patient showed. They had lost their memories but they never, never lost the ability to love. They loved to be hugged, or sang to, or smiled at.

I like to read that you continue to take her on outings. That is so important. I worked with so many patients whose familys would say, "well, dad/mom doesnt even know when I am here, so why come? " That really burnt me. These people did not take the time to learn the disease or anything else, nor did want to be bothered. I wish there were more kids like you. I would see my patients eyes light up when their relative entered a room. No, they may not be able to tell me their name, but they knew that face and that was all that mattered at that moment.

I loved the wreath you made !!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had that kind of talent. But as for me, I do some little sketches here and there.

I am sorry to have written a book, but I wanted to say hi and tell you to keep up the good work. I know that God will continue to bless you and your mother. She sounds like a handful but you have things under control. Sending Love and Prayers, Crystal Reid-Sides, CNAI

Comments:Thank you so much for posting this journal and sharing with us your mother's journey into Alzheimer's. My mother-in-law is in middle stage progressing to late stage Alzheimer's, and it's so hard seeing all the changes and trying to anticipate what's going on and what might happen next. It's good to read your journal and see that we're not alone. You and your sons are so wonderful to your mother, and I'm sure she knows how much you love her.

Comments: I have only read a small portion but plan to come back and read more. My mom was diagnosed w/ dementia indicative of Alzheimer's around 1994. My stepfather passed away and I had to bring her to live with me in 1993. She was already undergoing test then and had signs of something being wrong a couple of years before (or more...those little things you see but just kind of laugh off or attribute to stress). He signs actually began then in her mid to late 50's, though we were unaware at the time that was what was happening. She was home with me about 3 yrs. before my husband insisted we consider a nursing home due to the strain on me. That was the hardest thing I ever did or experienced. I lost my mom Oct.19 2004 just under a month before her 73rd birthday. I miss her terribly. I guess I come to these sight to compare what i felt and experienced with what others go thru. Mostly I check in on Chip Gerber. What a sweet man. I hope to be reading more of your story soon. Bless you.
